Weavers’ Cottage

Weavers’ Cottage in Rawtenstall is a Grade II listed building on Bacup Road, dating from the late 18th century. The building is now operated as a heritage centre by Rossendale Civic Trust. Its three-storey structure includes a restored open-plan upper floor.

Restoration

During the 1970s, Rawtenstall Civic Society raised funds to save the building and subsequently converted it into Weavers’ Cottage Heritage Centre. Rawtenstall Civic Society later merged with Haslingden Civic Trust in 2001 to form Rossendale Civic Trust, who now operate the building.

The Trust describes the present interior as having working handlooms on the top floor, a Victorian kitchen and clog shop on the ground floor, a tea room and changing exhibitions.
